The De Havilland D.H.89 Dragon Rapide aircraft was a short-range light passenger transport of the 30s british-made. Designed as a successor to the D.H.84 Dragon, it included the piping wings and aerodynamic landing gear covers of the D.H.86 Express 4-engine aircraft. The Dragon Rapide not only proved to be reliable, but were also extremely durable devices, some of them are still flying in the XXI century. Of the 731 units built by the British company de Havilland ecurrently there are only 7 in the world catalogued and in a good state of conservation.

The Dragon Rapide went down in Spanish history being the plane with which General Francisco Franco traveled from Las Palmas to Tetuan on July 18, 1936 to put himself at the forefront of the national uprising, thus starting the Spanish Civil War.
